After Hafsa Sultan found healing from the paste she obtained by mixing 41 types of spices, it was ordered to be scattered from the domes of the Sultan Mosque so that the public could benefit from it. The Mesir Paste Scattering Ceremony, which is repeated every year on Newroz, has traditionally survived to this day. Mesir paste which was made of 41 different kinds of herbs and spices by the period famous medical doctor Merkez Efendi who worked as an administrator in Sultan Masque and its social complex was told to make Mesir Paste 1522 with the order of Ayşe Hafsa Sultan who was Yavuz Sultan Selim’s wife and Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’s mother. Mesir Paste helped Hafsa Sultan get cured. Therefore, it was ordered to toss off the dome of the Sultan Mosque so that the public could benefit as well. Mesir Paste Tossing Ceremony which is held every year on Nevruz day has come up to those days as a traditional celebration. Im Jahre 1522 wurde durch die Ehefrau des Sultans Yavuz Sultan Selim und der Mutter des Sultans Suleiman the Magnificent der Frau Ayse Hafsa die Sultan Moschee und der Komplexe erbaut. Der damals als sehr berühmter Mediziner und Leiter der Moschee tätige Herr Merkez Efendi hat 41 verschiedene Kräuter zu einer Paste vermischt und Hafsa Sultan mit dieser Mischung geheilt, wonach entschieden wurde, dass auch das Volk davon Gebrauch machen soll.
